The salad bar is part of our goal to expand event-based learning opportunities. Event-based learning aims to stack meaningful goals within an event, thereby expanding reinforcing contexts for students, creating joy-filled and productive school days.
Creating a "start-up" like a salad bar requires a wide variety of skills. Upper School trainers have incorporated many goals and objectives into this initiative. In addition to learning food preparation and kitchen safety, technology, math, art, and consumer skills are targeted throughout. For example, some students will use Excel to manage a budget, others will process payments through an online platform, while others will learn graphic design to create order forms and advertise the salad bar.
