Spring Sensations: A Triumph for PCDI
On May 4, 2024, the elegant and stunning Ryland Inn transformed into a vibrant Kentucky Derby scene for our annual Spring Sensations Gala. This year’s event was nothing short of spectacular, culminating in more than $470,000 raised to support the students with autism at the Princeton Child Development Institute (PCDI).
The evening was a testament to the generosity and community spirit that defines the supporters of PCDI. Guests arrived in their finest derby attire, adorned with elaborate hats and bow ties, and a touch of Southern charm.
Highlights of the gala included the much-anticipated Derby watch party, where attendees witnessed the race conclude with a thrilling photo finish. Tom Stebbins, serving as the lively and exciting auctioneer and emcee, kept the energy high and the crowd engaged. His engaging presence ensured that the night was filled with fun and spirited bidding in support of individuals with autism.
The "Who Wore It Best" contest added an extra layer of excitement, with Michelle Needham winning Best Dressed Lady, Julie and Jack Reilly taking home Best Dressed Couple, Mary Hogarth being awarded Best Hat, and a tie for Best Dressed Gent between the dynamic duo of Austin and his dad Nick.

A particularly moving moment of the evening came during the program highlighting PCDI's impact on students and their families—building friendships and opening a world of possibilities. Inspired by these stories, an anonymous angel donor generously offered to match the paddle raise up to $100,000, helping to smash the fundraising goal.
Dr. Amanda Freeman, PCDI Executive Director, expressed her gratitude, saying, "We are overwhelmed by the generosity of our donors and the commitment of our community. This incredible support allows PCDI to continue making a profound impact on the lives of our students and their families."
As the night drew to a close, the sense of achievement was palpable. Spring Sensations not only surpassed its fundraising goals but also united a community in its dedication to an incredible cause. The record-breaking $470,000 will pave the way for new opportunities and advancements at PCDI, ensuring that students with autism receive the highest quality of education and support.
A heartfelt thank you to all who make Spring Sensations possible. We are grateful for the incredible dedication and hard work of our sponsors, committee members, volunteers, staff, and families who go above and beyond every day to make a difference in the lives of those we serve.
